About Nominit – tradition, technology and sustainability
Nominit, with its 65 employees, develops and manufactures cold-formed metal components with a focus on quality, efficiency and sustainability. Through in-house tool manufacturing and technical support, we manage the entire process. We also offer machined components from carefully selected partners.
A significant part of our sales is directed towards the automotive industry, and approximately 70 percent of production is exported to 25 countries. Our main market is Europe, with the Nordic region as our most important export region, but we also deliver our products to other parts of the world.
In addition to the automotive industry, construction, defense, industry and packaging are important sectors. We also supply products for electric vehicles, with more under development.
Sustainability and responsibility
Sustainability is a natural part of our operations. The high material utilization and energy-efficient process of cold forming make our production environmentally friendly. Together with ISO-certified routines for quality and environment, as well as long-term social engagement, we work for sustainable solutions for both customers and society.
Our owner foundations also contribute to research, culture and societal initiatives in Småland, reflecting the company’s values and long-term perspective.
Nominit – from wire to leading-edge components
Nominit was founded in Värnamo in 1937 by Sixten Norhed. From day one, wire was at the core.
During the first years, mainly fences and wire mesh were manufactured, but the business quickly developed and took on a more industrial direction. In the late 1940s, the company moved to Jönköpingsvägen, where Nominit is still based. Shortly thereafter, the product range expanded to include nail manufacturing, and the investment in the first riveting machines marked the beginning of the company’s long-term focus on cold-formed components and rivets.
During the 1950s and 60s, the machine park expanded gradually. Equipment for hollow rivet manufacturing was added, enabling the production of more advanced parts. In the early 1970s, the next step was taken through investments in machines for more complex cold forming. A key milestone came in 1991 when the first multi-station machine was installed – a technological leap that greatly increased the ability to manufacture geometrically advanced components.
Development continued at a high pace into the 2000s. The facility has been expanded several times, and the level of investment has been high. In 2014, the first robot-equipped lathe for post-processing was installed – a clear step towards a more automated and modern production chain. In parallel, the trading business has developed and become an important part of the offering.
Today, Nominit is a highly specialized industrial company with approximately 65 employees and around 70 percent export. The company holds a strong position as a supplier of cold-formed components, rivets and related machined products. At the same time, its roots remain clear: wire as raw material, long-term competence development and a clear ambition for quality, technological leadership and sustainability.
